The GMNR does not have the required facilities to practise such activities. Skiers who use the hiking trail network endanger the safety of hikers.  <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/nourrir-animaux.svg\" alt=\"Interdit de nourrir les animaux\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNourrir les animaux\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Feeding wild animals<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Feeding wild animals can be detrimental to their health, as human food is not suitable for their digestive systems. Feeding them can also alter their behaviour (they can become aggressive toward humans) and expose them to predators or other dangers. Do not follow or approach wild animals.  <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/motoneigev2.svg\" alt=\"Motoneige interdite\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSports motoris\u00e9s (motoneige)\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Motorsports (snowmobiling)<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The reserve does not have the necessary facilities for motorsports. Use public lands provided for this purpose. <\/p>\n\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/feuv2.svg\" alt=\"Feu interdit\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFeux de bois ou utilisation de r\u00e9chaud\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Making a fire and using campstoves<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Campfires are prohibited, as there are no facilities available at GMNR. Having a fire on the ground can burn tree roots or spread uncontrollably. If improperly extinguished, it can easily escalate into a forest fire.  <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/cueillette.svg\" alt=\"Cueillette interdite\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCueillette de plantes ou de champignons\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Picking plants or mushrooms<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The GMNR is home to several at-risk species, which are protected by the <em>Act respecting threatened or vulnerable species<\/em> in Quebec and the <em>Species at Risk Act <\/em>in Canada. Harming, possessing and selling these species are prohibited, as well disturbing their habitat. Some of these plants need many years to reproduce and are at risk of trampling. For this reason, going off-trail is prohibited.<\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/chienv2.svg\" alt=\"Chiens interdits\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChiens\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Pets<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Pets can disturb wildlife and hunt species out of their habitat. When marking their territory or when their droppings are not collected, they leave behind a scent that repels animals and also increases the risk of transmitting disease. Free-roaming dogs can go off-trail and disturb plant (trampling, uprooting) or animal habitats (leakage, destruction, attack, etc.). Drone noise disturbs animals and the tranquility of nature. Additionally, drones may breach the privacy of those visiting the GMNR.  <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/chassev2-EN-2.svg\" alt=\"chassev2-EN\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tChasse\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Hunting without a lease<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Hunting is a regulated activity in certain areas within the nature reserve. Hunters require a lease from the Nature Conservancy of Canada and are required to comply with the conditions of the GMNR and the regulations of the Minist\u00e8re\u00a0de l&#8217;Environnement, Lutte contre les changements climatiques,\u00a0<em>Faune<\/em>\u00a0et Parcs.<br \/><\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/camping_EN-1.svg\" alt=\"camping_EN\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tCamping sauvage\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Wilderness camping<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Various camping sites are available on the Les Sentiers de l&#8217;Estrie network (one on the GMNR and others nearby). Consult the interactive map and contact Les Sentiers de l&#8217;Estrie to make a reservation. Camping outside these sites is strictly prohibited. <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/baignade.svg\" alt=\"Baignade interdite\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tBaignade interdite\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Swimming<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The GMNR features many salamander streams, which provide vital habitat for these amphibious species. As salamanders have no lungs and breathe through their skin, they need clear, unpolluted water. As refreshing as these streams may look, swimming in them is prohibited. Sunscreen and mosquito repellent pollute streams, and wading disturbs the riverbed, which reduces the water quality. For more information on stream salamanders, see the Biodiversity section below.    <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/peche.svg\" alt=\"P\u00eache interdite\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tP\u00eache\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Fishing<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Introducing live bait into the streams poses a threat to native fish species. Fishing is permitted in some areas, under licence only. <\/p>\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/velo.svg\" alt=\"Interdit aux v\u00e9los\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tV\u00e9lo\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Mountain biking<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The GMNR does not have the necessary facilities in the area to ensure the activity is structured and safe (high risk of injury). Mountain bike trails are accessible in the networks provided for this purpose in the region. Mountain biking on hiking trails poses a hazard to hikers.  <\/p>\n\n\t<a href=\"#\" id=\"trigger-\" role=\"button\" data-modal=\"\" data-node=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/rnmv.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/02\/vttv2.svg\" alt=\"VTT interdits\" \/>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSports motoris\u00e9s\n\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\t\t\t\tPreview\n\t\t\tmodal-\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h5 id=\"modal-title-\">Prohibited: Motorsports (ATV and motocross)<\/h5>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Motorized vehicles increase soil compaction, creating ruts, trail widening and faster erosion, while also fostering the spread of invasive species. They can also cross streams, resulting in reduced water quality and contributing to the deterioration of natural environments.
